William "Bill" S. Humphrey's Obituary
William "Bill" S. Humphrey, age 77, passed away July 27, 2025, at his home near Longton, Kansas. Born in Wichita, Kansas on September 4, 1947, Bill was raised alongside one brother, and graduated from East High School in the class of 1964.
Bill's journey was one of service and determination. After attending Eastern Oklahoma College, where he rode bareback broncs and bulls in rodeo, he dedicated years to law enforcement. He served as a police officer in Wichita and Garden Plains and then served as Chief of Police in Garden Plains for four years. Throughout his career, he maintained the family legacy, owning the window and door manufacturing business started by his grandfather.
His love story began at a rodeo where he met Pat Wochos—quite literally when she ran over him on her horse. They married on July 6, 1968, beginning a beautiful 57-year partnership. Bill was known for his hardworking nature and fierce loyalty, earning him lifelong friendships while building a legacy of integrity and strength.
