I knew Bill for the last 6 years, and we spent a lot of time traveling back and forth to Independence while I was a driver at Elk County Council on Aging. He had a new story to share each time we went and I really enjoyed when he would tell me about the Indian uprisings in old time Kansas.
Each curve in the road, he had something to share.... who use to live there on that farm, how many Indian Arrow Heads he had found in that field, where the water line was in 1972...etc. The time always went by with such enjoyment. In the past couple of years I only spoke with him on the phone, since I was no longer driving. I will always remember taking him to my Grandparents old farm, west of Elk Falls and telling him the story of the Gold coins that the Dalton gang buried there in the 1880's and how they were never found. His eyes would get so big and he had a way of saying "realllly?" that will stay with me forever.
I will miss this gentleman, his gentle voice and his kind eyes.
