Winfred Franklin Barnett's Obituary
Winfred Franklin Barnett, age 86, of Chanute, KS, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at NMRMC in Chanute. Winfred was born on November 8, 1930 in Graham, TX, the son of William and Stella (McAdams) Barnett.
On November 12, 1952, Winfred married Ethel Beck in Mountainburg, Arkansas. Ethel was his soul mate and preceded him in death in 1991.
Winfred served in the United States Navy from 1948 – 1953 in the Korean War. He was very proud of his service to his country. Winfred worked as a carpenter and supervisor for a construction company for many years. Winfred enjoyed hunting, fishing and planting his garden. He also loved to be around his cattle and could spend hours just sitting and watching them. Winfred most of all loved his dog, Patches. Winfred was a life member of the VFW and a life member of the NRA.

Winfred was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lee, James and Arvill Barnett and sisters, Zell Callahan Dyer and Nell Dyer; a grandson, Kirk Wrestler and 2 children as infants.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel at 16 N. Forest in Chanute. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Chanute, KS. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute, KS. The Chanute Honor Guard will be in charge of military honors. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. Memorials have been suggested to the American Heart Association and the Wounded Warriors Project and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
